General Information:
1) Keep in mind PFS was designed similar to FBB in certain aspects. Re-Signings, Free Agency, Training Camps, etc are very similar.
2) The game is always evolving. Soon it will include more realistic finances, coaches will be included, running QBs, larger/customizable playbooks/formations/plays, etc. The creator is very active and responds quickly to requests. Best part about that is the new additions can be implemented in the league as it goes. Any suggestions you have can be posted in the suggestion thread I'll start and I will pass it on to Brooks (the creator).
3) BUY THE GAME. It is very worth it. You'll have a greater understanding of things, full control of your team (think OOTP), and the league will be better for it. The more people with the program, the better. Also, Brooks is a great guy who has put a lot of work into this program. Support him and enjoy the benefits of having the game. Great for the online league and is also fun one player.
Rosters/Finances:
See this: uofl.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=rules&action=display&thread=4
1) Maintain your roster. Maximum roster is 53, minimum is 44. There are minimum position counts to maintain.
2) The Injury Reserve. If you are familiar with the NFL, placing a player on IR ends his season, but frees up a roster spot.
3) The minimum salary is: $390,000 and the maximum is: $10,000,000
4) There is a 25% penalty for cutting a player. Basically you will only free up 75% of their contract for each year remaining on the contract.
Franchise Tag:
1) A team can designate one player on their team as their Franchise Player. If a player receives the franchise player tag they will be paid an average of the top 5 players at their position or 120% of their current contract, whichever is greater. This will be a one year contract and the player cannot be released during the next season. Franchise Player Tags must be submitted by week 17 of the season and should be posted in the franchise tag section. The team must have enough salary cap room the following season to be able to make this designation.
Trades:
1) You may only trade picks from the upcoming draft and the draft after that.
2) There is no going over the cap, just make sure you have enough space to absorb incoming contracts, and the trade works.
